Camp Policies
At Camp W*K, camp policies help create a joyful, screen-free, and inclusive space where campers grow into their best selves. We’re committed to maintaining an environment rooted in kindness, respect, and safety for both campers and staff.
Whether you’re a new parent or returning family, reviewing these camp policies will help set clear expectations and ensure everyone is prepared for a meaningful summer.
Why camp policies matter
We believe camp is more than a place, it’s a community. Our camp policies are designed to support that community by:
-
Creating emotional and physical safety
-
Setting consistent expectations for behavior
-
Encouraging screen-free play and connection
-
Preventing health-related disruptions
-
Supporting campers’ independence and confidence
The camp experience is most impactful when families and staff work together. These guidelines reflect decades of learning, feedback, and care.
Behavior Expectations at Camp
Respect is at the heart of Camp W*K. We expect every camper and staff member to treat others with kindness, empathy, and understanding.
To maintain a safe and supportive space, we have outlined clear behavioral expectations. Violations such as bullying, bigotry, inappropriate behavior, or any actions that compromise camper well-being are taken seriously.
Please read our full Appropriate Behavior Policy below to understand what’s expected and how we handle violations.
Electronics & Screen-Free Policy
We are proudly unplugged. Our camp policies around technology aim to give campers a much-needed break from screens so they can build real-world friendships, explore the outdoors, and discover who they are without distractions.
Phones, tablets, smartwatches, and other connected devices are not permitted. However, simple music players and e-readers with no internet capabilities are allowed under specific guidelines.

Head Lice Prevention Policy
Health and hygiene are integral to a smooth camp experience, and head lice prevention is a key focus of our health protocols. Every camper and staff member is screened for lice on arrival by a trained professional. We also provide continued checks during the session to ensure early detection and treatment.
If lice or nits are found, families have two options:
-
Home Treatment: The camper is picked up, treated at home, and may return once cleared by a medical professional and our health staff.
-
On-Camp Treatment: We coordinate a same-day lice treatment through a professional, pesticide-free provider (“The Littlest Lice Shop”) for a $500 fee.
We recommend checking your camper prior to their arrival and notifying us if they’ve received recent treatment. Preventative care at home reduces stress and helps everyone settle into camp quickly.
Valuables and Personal Items
Please avoid sending campers with valuables or irreplaceable items. Camp life is active and adventurous—things can get lost, damaged, or wet. While we do our best to care for camper belongings, we cannot be responsible for lost items. Label everything and keep packing simple.
Medical Devices and Special Needs
Some campers require specific accommodations, such as nebulizers, EpiPens, or prescription medications. Please indicate these needs during registration, and our Health Center team will reach out to review any care plans.
Camp policies ensure we are ready and equipped to support every camper’s unique needs.
