Onboarding

Coming to overnight camp for the first time is an exciting adventure but we understand it can also be a little bit intimidating. Here at Camp W*K there are a series of things we have put in place to make first time campers feel comfortable and welcomed before their first day.

  • Home Visit, Tour or Video Chat: Choosing a summer camp is a big decision. We feel it’s important for you and your camper to be able to look us in the eyes, have a discussion and make sure our program is the right fit! We are available to meet in person at Camp or at your home. And if that is not convenient, we will gladly schedule a video chat. Contact us to get started!
  • Big Sibling/Camp Buddy: Each year we pair up campers who are coming to Camp for the first time with a veteran camper to help “show them the ropes”. Matching up new campers with a Big Sibling/Camp Buddy helps to connect them with another camper who has been there before and can answer their questions about Camp from a camper’s perspective. Plus, their Big Sibling/Camp Buddy will come find them on their very first day to introduce themselves and help show them around!
  • Video Chat with a Camp Leader: Prior to the start of Camp a member of our Leadership Team will reach out to all new campers (through their parents) to schedule a video chat. These leaders are staff that your camper will be interacting with every day so it’s great to meet them ahead of time! The leaders are there to answer questions about Camp but also to get to know your camper.

And don’t forget the swag bag! All new overnight campers receive a care package filled with lots of fun Camp W*K goodies to get everyone excited for the start of summer.
